The Village boasts 30 historic exhibit buildings, including the original 1849 Mason Co. Courthouse (on the State Register of Historic Places) and an authentic turn-of-the-century steam locomotive, tender car & flat car loaded with logs & headed toward the working sawmill. Visitors come face-to-face with early settlers: first-person interpreters with scripts prepared by staff and historians, they interact with visitors in the persona of historical characters and recreate actual personages from Mason County. The buildings have 1000s of authentic artifacts & archives depicting the rich lumbering and agricultural history of its area. The Mission of the USS Silversides Submarine Museum is to honor the men and women of the military, preserve military history and provide experiences that educate the public about past and present military history and technology. Silversides received 12 battle stars for World War II service and was awarded one Presidential Unit Citation for cumulative action over four patrols. She is credited with sinking 23 ships, the third-most of any allied World War II submarine, behind only the USS Tang and USS Tautog. The tonnage of the ships sunk by Silversides amounted to 90,080 tons, second only to Tang's total. Judged by such standards, Silversides has the most prolific combat record of any still-extant American submarine.

Online, you will find select items from our lifestyle lines of clothing, candles, jewelry and accessories. We have a penchant for junkin- if it's rusty, shabby and chippy, load it up! We love finding the potential in all the things other people gave up on, and we especially love to turn them into something people want again. Vintage items hold such amazing stories and we find ourselves "redefining" their histories and giving them a second (or third!) life! Feel free to stop in to our brick and mortar Vintage Redefined located in downtown Muskegon, Michigan and find a special treasure!

Located in an elegant residential neighborhood just east of Beloit College, guests will delight in staying at the historic 1810 Emerson House Bed and Breakfast. This lovely example of Georgian Colonial Revival architecture was built in 1930 as a wedding gift for Theodore and Rosella Woolsey. The house's distinctive roughhewn cedar shake roof and cream-colored brick with dramatic "weeping mortar" is a neighborhood standout. Beloit truly is the Gateway to Wisconsin, being located at I-90 and the Wisconsin - Illinois border. Both Milwaukee and Madison airports are only 1 hour away, and only 1 1/2 hours from Chicago's O'Hare Airport. Emerson House is also a short distance to Beloit College, cultural art centers and quaint downtown shops and restaurants.

    • 8 years ago we were looking for an antique kitchen table and saw one listed in an auction bill. We got the table and a few more things. That was our first auction and we were hooked. People would ask us "where did you get that?" The answer was usually "at an auction". Friends & family started giving us lists and were pleased with our knack for finding just what they wanted. In June of 2019, we decided to turn our treasure hunting into a business and opened, 2nd Time Around Resale Shoppe. With backgrounds in merchandising and marketing, we take great pride in featuring our inventory in a clean, bright and cheerful environment. We have a great mix of merchandise - some old, some new, collectibles, vintage, furniture, home decor, crafts, gifts and more. We really do try to have something for everyone. Mike & Patty Patterson

Not only was the house gorgeous and room comfortable, but the breakfast that she offered each morning was delicious and filled with delightful conversations. When I had to ask for last minute accommodations for my kids on the last night of my stay, she was happy to make sure we were all taken care of. This was my first time at a bed and breakfast and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I am so glad to have given it a try and to have had such a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for your hospitality, from all of us." Google Review

Here's a word of advice.... you'll get the most money for gently loved items if you're willing to accept trade and really, who wouldn't like to walk out with something even more fabulous? It has been important to me from the beginning to be a venue for all the great talent in the area so I try to be a showcase for local vendors.

    • Historic Hixon House was built in 1858 by pioneer Gideon Hixon, who became a lumber baron in La Crosse. He and his wife Ellen raised their 5 sons in this home and expanded it to the size it is today. In 1965, their descendants gifted the house to LCHS complete with its original Victorian and Arts and Crafts furnishings. Our knowledgeable docents will guide you through this piece of La Crosse history. A tour of Hixon House reveals a true family home that embodies stories of the first half-century of the city of La Crosse. The Hixons were community builders who helped finance schools and hospitals, as well as public parks, most notably Riverside Park and Granddad Bluff. Their home reflects their values as well as their social status and reveals how people incorporated the decorative styles of their era into their lives.

    • The story of the International Crane Foundation began in 1971 at Cornell University with two students who shared a passion for cranes. Ornithology students Ron Sauey and George Archibald envisioned an organization that would combine research, captive breeding and reintroduction, landscape restoration and education to safeguard the world's 15 crane species. In 1973, with the generosity of the Sauey family - who rented their horse farm to Ron and George for $1 a year!.... the International Crane Foundation "hatched" in Baraboo, Wisconsin. Over nearly 50 years, we have developed unique collaborations and led effective community-based conservation programs, important research projects and innovative captive breeding and reintroduction efforts. These endeavors have inspired international cooperation, helped improve livelihoods for people around the world and lead to the protection of millions of acres of wetlands and grasslands on the five continents where cranes live.

    • Cruise back in time and explore the Upper Mississippi with The La Crosse Queen! She's a modern-day replica of the grand river boats that plied the Mississippi River in the early 1900s. Cruising out of La Crosse, she's one of the few authentic Mississippi River paddlewheel river boats still in operation in the US today. In keeping with early traditions, she was built with sternwheels that are her only means of propulsion. The La Crosse Queen has a split sternwheel, and each half is run by a twin diesel engine that powers hydraulic motors that turn the paddles. The split paddlewheel gives the Queen greater maneuverability and dependability. This is in contrast to most paddlewheelers in operation today that have a "free wheeling" paddlewheel at the stern of the boat for visual effect, but have traditional hidden screw-type engines to propel them. The La Crosse Queen is U.S. Coast Guard inspected for safety and is licensed to carry 149 passengers.

    • Mid-Continent RR, opened in 1963, is an outdoor, living museum and operating railroad recreating the small town / short line way of life with operating trains, educational exhibits, and displays of restored rolling stock. They educate the public by recreating as accurately as possible the Golden Years of Railroads, from the Civil War days until after World War II, by operating a living railroad with vintage equipment from those times. Learn of a time when the railroad station was the communication center of every small town. People came to meet folks who came from faraway places. The mail, packages, newspapers, and goods came by rail. The railroad and its telegraph were the nucleus that tied a small community to every place in the entire country. Everyone depended on the railroad for transportation, information, and the shipment of goods and mail. Great family activity! Frost also designed Chicago's Navy Pier. The railroad depot was active until the 1970s at which point the depot became the center point of Wausau Insurance's nationwide marketing campaign. This put Wausau on the map and made the depot a recognizable treasure as it was showcased on 60 minutes and Sunday Night Football. After that, the depot was home to the Boy Scouts and then laid vacant until Dan and Kimm discovered it one snowy December evening. The rest is Timekeeper history. • The Wegners began construction of the Grotto at their summer home. The building continued from 1929 until after 1936. On-site construction was accomplished over the summer months; however, many pieces were created in Bangor during the winter months and then transported to the farm for installation. On March 19, 1937, Paul Wegner died after a long illness. His funeral was held in the Glass Church. Matilda continued to work on the Grotto, adding finishing touches to many of the pieces and creating colorful embellishments for the nearby cemetery where Paul was buried. Matilda died in 1942. Paul's and Matilda's graves are marked by monuments similar to the sculptures found in the Grotto. The Wegner Grotto, known locally as the Glass Church, was owned by the Wegner family until purchased by the Kohler Foundation who has restored & maintained the site.
