Hi, I'm Bob Fredrick, owner of Bob's Home Woodshop. In fact, I am a one-person company because I build, package, and ship everything, and do the accounting and marketing in my copious free time.
My woodworking hobby grew into a business over the course of several years, through a start selling at local craft shows and then moving into online sales in 2006. I built the shop myself (carpentry, electrical, insulation, and drywall) and now my "retirement" is spent handcrafting toys and other items from sustainable hardwoods which I purchase locally. I am always looking for new items to add to what I currently sell, and I welcome suggestions and/or custom orders.
I ship all but custom orders the next business day via USPS Priority Mail or via UPS for larger items.
Started in 1936, our historical society has grown from a group of passionate volunteers collecting artifacts to a three story museum in the heart of Belvidere. We work hard to preserve our county's history for the next generation - holding events, lectures and exhibits showing off the exciting history of our community. The museum has some amazing exhibits: the only example of a 1903 Eldredge Runabout, built in Belvidere, a real 1840s log cabin, a World War I display, an exhibit centered around Judith Ford, the Belvidere native crowned Miss America 1969 -- and more. It's all looks well organized in the city's old Gas & Electric Building, ca. 1900. COMING SOON! The Funderburg House, an 8,000 sq ft mansion built in 1906, will become Northern Illinois' newest historic house museum & event venue! The craftsman style structure was built for Belvidere native Katherine Rhinehart, daughter of Civil War General Allen Fuller. We look forward to your visit!!

We hope you enjoy all we have to offer, and share the experience with others.
The Read House that currently stands on the Museum site was constructed in the early 1840s. Lucius and Emily Read came to Bloomingville (one of two early names of Byron) from Vermont in 1836. Originally, the Reads built a log home, probably very near the site of the current house. In time, they determined that a more permanent structure was needed, and Emily Read's brother, Pardon Kimball, constructed the Byron brick home for them in about 1843. This fine frontier home is one of the oldest structures in present-day Byron. The house remained a residence until 1945 when it was sold and became a restaurant and tavern. In 1988, a group of investors purchased the home, and in 1990 the Museum District was formed to care for and operate the facility. Eventually, the building next door was also purchased and an exhibit area, work spaces and archive room were created in this annex facility. Please call for special tour times or for an appointment.

Formerly Sharks Roadhouse now Cajun Jack's - we bring your favorite Southern dishes mixed with some hometown recipes. In 1985 Jack Mills served his first oyster out of a shack in Arkansas, near Texas. This would be the beginning of the local favorite that is "Fat Jack's Oyster Bar". Over the decades, Fat Jack's would grow into a local favorite. The only thing people enjoyed more than the food was Jack Mills serving it to them. Jack always cared more about people than anything. His charisma and delicious food turned Fat Jack's into the Texarkana hot spot that it is today. Up until his passing in 2015, you could always find Jack, drink in his hand, roaming the restaurant making new friends and catching up with old ones. Fat Jack's has locations in Texarkana and Hot Spring's Arkansas. As his niece, I'm honored to carry on Jack's legacy by serving his recipes to new friends. Jacky (Mills) Jacobs.

A lady named Elizabeth Armstrong organized the women to defend the fort and fight off the Indians. The town was subsequently named in her honor.
Our historic school building first opened in early 1900 and housed students until 2003. The building was purchased by Michael in 2014 and has undergone extensive renovation since.

After 30 years in nursing, Jan felt an urgency to leave it to start her own business: EVILENA'S RED DRESSER. It's a unique consignment store with an eclectic mix of traditional, retro, vintage, rustic and upcycled furniture pieces, Dixie Belle paint, classes, home decor & women's apparel. It's staged to inspire using old or typical items in a new way. Her mom would encourage her to create anything she wanted out of things most people would throw away. She had an old dresser in the basement a family member made, which Jan painted and used many times. When she opened EVILENA'S RED DRESSER, she painted it red, her favorite color. That is how she got the name for the store - Evilena is Jan's mother! That red dresser is still in the store (but not for sale, of course.) Jan's goal is to pursue excellence - a constant work in progress - and to serve the community, as God leads. Evilena's Red Dresser is growing and ever changing! Enjoy the positive vibes, fun and great finds you'll get here.

For almost 60 years, Gale Street Inn has been serving fine food and spirits with gracious hospitality. George opened his first location in Chicago's Jefferson Park neighborhood in 1963. While ribs were one of the original menu items, we never thought they'd become world famous. In 1974, George and his wife Joan ventured out to what was then considered the country. They found the perfect location on the shores of Diamond Lake. A great deal has changed since then, but our commitment to service and great food hasn't.
We welcome you to visit and see what's new. It's the Gale Street you love and remember with a more comfortable and updated atmosphere. Come for your favorite dishes prepared by our award-winning chef and stay for the sunset, a good cocktail, and many more memories to be made. Follow us on Instagram: @galestinn
"My husband have wanted to try this restaurant for a long time since reading other reviews about it. The reviews were spot on. Our waiter, Michael, was outstanding. He was taking care of half the room and never missed a beat. They certainly know how to hire staff. That was an added bonus to the food.....I'm not much of a beef person but ordered a New York Strip. After all, how could you go to a steak house and not order steak? It was the best steak I have ever had. It had just the right crust on it. The juices were flowing onto the plate. Seasoning perfect. My husband ordered the filet and ate every bit of it. He said it was so good he hated to eat the last bite because he'd want more. I suggest you make reservations because you don't want to miss eating at this restaurant. It's a gem!" Yelp 4.5 (134 reviews)

Allen and Irving Pond, two Chicago architects and former Eagle's Nest members, designed the Oregon Public Library - a Carnegie library building now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The library's gallery showcases turn-of-the-century works, including Lorado Taft and Nellie Verne Walker's neo-classical masterpieces. The second-story art gallery's exceptional collection boasts a vast number of paintings and sculptures, most of which are on permanent display. In 1918, Lorado Taft, along with Oliver Dennett Grover, Charles Frances Browne, and Nellie Verne Walker, founded the art gallery on the second floor of the library. They used it for regular art showings and lectures. Most of the works you see in the gallery today were gifted to the library by members of Eagle's Nest Art Colony.

Q'tiques is a vintage & antique mall created to honor family. Our house has always been filled with memories of the past. Through the objects passed down to me from my parents and grandparents, we remember and cherish those we loved. As this passion grew my husband and I developed a love for antique and vintage decorations. Eventually we hunted for things reminding us of our growing up years. Whenever we take cross country drives, we prefer the backroads, stopping along the way for mom and pop stores to find treasures. So we've turned that passion into our work - we've joined the ranks of the mom and pop shops of McHenry! We are proudly family owned & operated. Our inventory ranges from present, to vintage, to antique. We are open 7 days a week....we look forward to meeting you!

The owner is originally from Illinois, where he once called South Wilmington and Kankakee his home!
They have been busy putting the wheels in motion this past fall.... paperwork, securing funds, remodeling and even finding a brew master!!

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing. CANDLES is an acronym for Children of Auschwitz Nazi Deadly Lab Experiments Survivors. The CANDLES organization was founded in 1984 by Eva Mozes Kor with help from her twin sister, Miriam Mozes Zieger, to launch an effort to locate other surviving Mengele twins. As a result of their efforts, Eva and Miriam were able to locate 122 individual Mengele twins living in ten countries and four continents. The search for more twins continues to this day. In 1995, Eva opened the CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Terre Haute. In 2003, the museum was firebombed by an arsonist and burned to the ground. With support from the community and organizations, a new museum building opened in 2005 and remains an important part of the community today. The museum draws increasing numbers of visitors every year, many coming from long distances.

Definitely one of the reasons for Carlson's success is its traditional, homemade and distinctive-tasting root beer. For 75 years the recipe has not changed and is brewed daily. And just like Carlson's did years ago, that creamy foam-topped root beer is still deliciously served in a tall frosty mug. Carlson's experience a simpler time enhanced by a delightfully varied selection of traditional drive-in cuisine amidst a quaint and reminiscent setting including car hops. Carlson's is a seasonal drive-in open early February through early October. Laura and Chris (owners) are keeping time-honored traditions in place the all-beef, bun-length ECKRICH hot dogs, on-site homemade root beer and the recipes for the homemade chili and BBQ pork. Every customer is greeted with a smile, every item is made to order and everybody leaves full and satisfied.

From the outside it looks like a normal, beautifully-restored, Federal-style brick home built in 1839. On the inside, however, it has some unusual features that served an important purpose in American history. This eight-room home served as a safe haven for more than 1,000 freedom seekers on their journey to Canada. Levi & Catharine Coffin's home became known as "The Grand Central Station of the Underground Railroad." Being a Quaker home, the Coffin house would not have had many of the era's decorative features such as narrow columns, delicate beading or dentil trim. During the 20 years they lived in Newport (now Fountain City), the Coffins worked to provide transportation, shelter, food and clothing to more than 1,000 freedom seekers. Many of their stories are told in Levi Coffin's 1876 memoir "Reminiscences".

This mecca of motorcycling is not located in a large metropolitan area, but in a quiet section of Indiana., North Judson is within 100 miles of Chicago, but seems to be in a world of its own. Surrounded by fields of active farms, and with many neighbors of the four legged variety, Kersting's is hardly the location you'd expect for a world class museum of motorcycle collectibles. It takes a moment to comprehend the vast array on display. With an interest in nearly all brands of two-wheeled transport, you will see machines from eight different countries that span nearly nine decades of history. American made machines are joined by those from France, Italy, Germany, as well as lesser known origins. Jim's first collector bike, a 1931 Indian 4 cylinder, was purchased in December of 1967 at a farm auction. Unlike Mr. Kersting's wait to get his hands on these machines, you can visit this collection today. Located 4 miles south of North Judson, Indiana, on Hwy. 39.

Tour the USS Silversides (SS-236), a Gato-Class World War 2 submarine. Call us to inquire about our overnight encampments and our science and technology classes focusing on underwater robotics!
The Mission of the USS Silversides Submarine Museum is to honor the men and women of the military, preserve military history and provide experiences that educate the public about past and present military history and technology. Silversides received 12 battle stars for World War II service and was awarded one Presidential Unit Citation for cumulative action over four patrols. She is credited with sinking 23 ships, the third-most of any allied World War II submarine, behind only the USS Tang and USS Tautog. The tonnage of the ships sunk by Silversides amounted to 90,080 tons, second only to Tang's total. Judged by such standards, Silversides has the most prolific combat record of any still-extant American submarine.

We are Renee and Courtney, a mother-daughter duo who love to repurpose, paint and decorate ourselves and the world! We have always dreamed of having a storefront to curate our creative endeavors, so we followed our dreams. Online, you will find select items from our lifestyle lines of clothing, candles, jewelry and accessories.
We have a penchant for junkin- if it's rusty, shabby and chippy, load it up! Vintage items hold such amazing stories and we find ourselves "redefining" their histories and giving them a second (or third!) life! Feel free to stop in to our brick and mortar Vintage Redefined located in downtown Muskegon, Michigan and find a special treasure!

Located in an elegant residential neighborhood just east of Beloit College, guests will delight in staying at the historic 1810 Emerson House Bed and Breakfast. This lovely example of Georgian Colonial Revival architecture was built in 1930 as a wedding gift for Theodore and Rosella Woolsey. The house's distinctive roughhewn cedar shake roof and cream-colored brick with dramatic "weeping mortar" is a neighborhood standout.
Beloit truly is the Gateway to Wisconsin, being located at I-90 and the Wisconsin - Illinois border. Both Milwaukee and Madison airports are only 1 hour away, and only 1 1/2 hours from Chicago's O'Hare Airport. Emerson House is also a short distance to Beloit College, cultural art centers and quaint downtown shops and restaurants.
8 years ago we were looking for an antique kitchen table and saw one listed in an auction bill. We got the table and a few more things. That was our first auction and we were hooked. People would ask us "where did you get that?" The answer was usually "at an auction". Friends & family started giving us lists and were pleased with our knack for finding just what they wanted.

"This amazing small business owner and her family took great care of me while I was in town for a trade show. Not only was the house gorgeous and room comfortable, but the breakfast that she offered each morning was delicious and filled with delightful conversations. When I had to ask for last minute accommodations for my kids on the last night of my stay, she was happy to make sure we were all taken care of. This was my first time at a bed and breakfast and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I am so glad to have given it a try and to have had such a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for your hospitality, from all of us." Google Review

Historic Hixon House was built in 1858 by pioneer Gideon Hixon, who became a lumber baron in La Crosse. He and his wife Ellen raised their 5 sons in this home and expanded it to the size it is today. In 1965, their descendants gifted the house to LCHS complete with its original Victorian and Arts and Crafts furnishings. Our knowledgeable docents will guide you through this piece of La Crosse history. A tour of Hixon House reveals a true family home that embodies stories of the first half-century of the city of La Crosse. The Hixons were community builders who helped finance schools and hospitals, as well as public parks, most notably Riverside Park and Granddad Bluff. Their home reflects their values as well as their social status and reveals how people incorporated the decorative styles of their era into their lives.

The story of the International Crane Foundation began in 1971 at Cornell University with two students who shared a passion for cranes. Ornithology students Ron Sauey and George Archibald envisioned an organization that would combine research, captive breeding and reintroduction, landscape restoration and education to safeguard the world's 15 crane species. In 1973, with the generosity of the Sauey family - who rented their horse farm to Ron and George for $1 a year!.... the International Crane Foundation "hatched" in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
Over nearly 50 years, we have developed unique collaborations and led effective community-based conservation programs, important research projects and innovative captive breeding and reintroduction efforts. These endeavors have inspired international cooperation, helped improve livelihoods for people around the world and lead to the protection of millions of acres of wetlands and grasslands on the five continents where cranes live.

Mid-Continent RR, opened in 1963, is an outdoor, living museum and operating railroad recreating the small town / short line way of life with operating trains, educational exhibits, and displays of restored rolling stock. They educate the public by recreating as accurately as possible the Golden Years of Railroads, from the Civil War days until after World War II, by operating a living railroad with vintage equipment from those times. Learn of a time when the railroad station was the communication center of every small town. People came to meet folks who came from faraway places. The mail, packages, newspapers, and goods came by rail. The railroad and its telegraph were the nucleus that tied a small community to every place in the entire country. Everyone depended on the railroad for transportation, information, and the shipment of goods and mail. Great family activity! We're proud of our participation in the Network to Freedom program and for being a National Historic Landmark. Museum staff and volunteers enjoy sharing our story with thousands of guests each year. In 2018 we commissioned a 3 story, immersive mural to be painted in the museum. The mural was completed by local artist Larry Schultz - it depicts the journey of a Freedom Seeker to the Milton House. In 2020, the museum received a grant from the Network to Freedom program that allowed us to improve our tour narrative. This update included refreshed language and perspective, along with updated graphics and collection exhibits. We look forward to sharing the Milton House Museum with you!

The Octagon House, five floors of solid brick construction completed in 1854, was designed and built by John Richards, a pioneer Watertown settler. The House is one of the largest single family residences of the pre-Civil War period in Wisconsin. Richards arrived in Watertown, on foot, in the spring of 1837. Once here he became the first lawyer in Jefferson County, as well as the owner of several mills. In 1849 he married his sweetheart, the former Eliza Forbes. He promised to build her the finest home in the Wisconsin Territory if she would marry him. Its construction includes central heating, running water and ventilating systems. In addition to those "modern conveniences," the house features a central spiral staircase which rises from the first floor to the tower room. The Richards family and their descendants resided in the home until 1937. The Richards family and their descendants resided in the home until 1937. This beautiful Tudor Revival building was designed in 1933, built for $16,190 and named the Powers' Inn. It was a supper club until the early 1970s. In 1986, John Elias, Tammy Probst, and Greg "Slim" Schroeder bought the building, renaming it "The Elias Inn", then built its fame as a destination supper club, offering the classic relish tray, all you can eat Friday night fish fry, and hand-cut dry-aged Prime Rib on Saturday nights. John, Tammy, and Slim finally hung up their aprons in 2022, selling the building and business to Michael & Lydia Sobol, and their partner, Nathanial Rupnow. The Union Hotel & Restaurant, located in De Pere, Wisconsin, holds a rich history. Beginning as the Union House, it was a small inn built in the 1860s and named as a nod to the Civil War's victorious northern army.
The current Union Hotel building dates back to the late 1800s when De Pere was a burgeoning town along the Fox River. It was a 2-story structure with "fire-proof" features including an exterior featuring Cream City Brick, a thick fire wall, and a steam heat system still in use today. It had a first floor restaurant, with the original bar where the front lobby is today, and the dining room in its current location. The 2nd floor had 11 guest rooms, a sitting room, a parlor, and a lobby. In 1903 a 3rd floor was added. In 1918, the hotel was sold to our great grandparents - August & Antonia Maternowski. With the help of their 12 children, this family business continues to this day.
